It is feeling more important than ever, with the heaviness and uncertainty of the world, to both notice and cultivate moments of lightness in our lives. We are grateful to have moments of this every day seeing the Watsi community's impact around the world. Guided by this very intention, our team has built a simple weekly list for days you feel like being part of something larger than yourself. We hope these prompts will help launch your own 7-day kindness challenge – a journey that radiates joy, embraces kindness, and fosters good health with Watsi. So grab a friend and dive in!



Our journey at Watsi is rooted in authenticity, enabling us to be present for our patients, medical partners, and the wonderful community of individuals like you, essential to our global impact.


Research also suggests a strong link between regular acts of kindness and personal happiness. Studies exploring positive psychology and social sciences indicate that individuals engaging in frequent acts of kindness report significantly higher levels of happiness—approximately 68% more than those who don't actively participate in such acts. Leading researchers in psychology, such as Sonja Lyubomirsky and Martin Seligman, have extensively investigated the relationship between kindness and happiness, contributing to this understanding.

Our 7-day kindness challenge, coupled with stories from our kindred community, aims not only to evoke the joy of doing good but also to celebrate this kindness globally. Today, let's tap into the magic of small actions on Day 2 of our 7-day kindness challenge. Just as Maya Angelou eloquently expressed, we possess two hands—one for self-betterment and the other for uplifting those around us.

On this second day of our challenge, consider immersing yourself in the world of meaningful actions. Is there a captivating book that has been tugging at your curiosity? Why not take a step towards it—order that book today and don't forget to share its title with us! Engage in a promise to allocate time for reading (or listening, if that resonates with you better)—a practice that enriches not only your mind but also your spirit.

Extend your impact further: Replace complaints with compliments. Donate clothes you no longer wear that others may need. Declutter your digital space by removing unnecessary apps. Offer an hour of your precious time each week to a cause close to your heart—your devoted involvement can create a lasting ripple of change. Kindness Challenge Day 4/7:

Craft your "Soul Statement" 💙

35,000! Imagine navigating a sea of decisions each day – from the mundane to the meaningful. It's no wonder we strive to make giving on Watsi as simple and direct as possible. At the heart of our 7-day kindness challenge, we embrace the art of crafting a soul statement that resonates through time, carving its way into every decision we make.

Our kind-hearted donor, Ben, discovered the magic of this soul statement. Picture a Monday morning in September when a $10 donation (plus a tip for Watsi to grow 🙏) set the stage for an extraordinary daily habit. At 7 AM every morning, like clockwork, another $10 donation would grace a Watsi patient.

Ben's journey began with a gesture of support for Tumugabirwe in Uganda. What ensued was a months-long symphony of donations, all set in motion at dawn. Eager to understand his motivation, we reached out to Ben. His response struck a chord and illuminated what inspired his daily giving. ⤵️

In Ben's words:

"My mission is to 'be a decent human.' It's about loving, helping, learning, living healthily, and aspiring for greatness. But something was missing – the 'world' in my actions. Over the summer, I felt that I needed to do more in my 'help' pillar. My statement and actions were all related to people I know and work with. But something was still missing. That's when I started my experiment: a small daily donation to Watsi. It became a heartwarming habit, a tangible way to extend my kindness to those I've never met."

Today let Eve Ekman's meditation on loving-kindness guide us, as we infuse the spirit of "awe" into our #WatsiKindnessChallenge on Day 6 — those breathtaking moments that ignite wonder and curiosity in our hearts, perfectly aligned with the spirit of Watsi's mission.

We love learning Dacher Keltner's perspective on the science around human connection and moments of "awe", which remind us of what we are trying to build at Watsi all year long. As Dacher explains, these are moments when we have a sense of wonder, an experience of emotion and mystery that transcends our understanding. When listening to thousands of people across more than 20 languages, Dacher found what most commonly inspired awe was seeing other's acts of courage, kindness, strength, or overcoming.
