Announcing our $3.5M Philanthropic Growth Round

Two years ago, we raised a seed round of donations to support our operations with one goal — to prove the Watsi concept.

We built our dream team and started traveling to hospitals around the world to learn how Watsi could support more patients.

Since then, we’ve grown 20x, supporting more than 5,000 patients and proving that Watsi's online funding model could change the future of healthcare.

We’ve expanded around the world — we now work with hospitals in 20 countries, including Cambodia, Kenya, Tanzania, Guatemala, and Nepal.

We’ve also widened our medical focus — we now support more than 170 different procedures, including heart surgery, cancer care, and brain tumor removals for patients like Joyce, a 16-year-old aspiring surgeon from Kenya, who is healthy today thanks to donors from around the world.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve raised a $3.5M growth round of donations to scale Watsi.

This round of donations was led by Paul Graham, Tencent, and The Pershing Square Foundation, along with 12 others:

These funds will support Watsi’s operations as we scale, and enable us to continue building technology that connects health funders of all sizes — from individual donors to, perhaps one day, the world's governments and foundations — directly to people in need of healthcare.

Technology is connecting the world. And we're using it to bring healthcare to everyone — starting with the people who need it most.

Thank you for being a part of it,
