Byron is Watsi’s newest and youngest engineer. He was seduced into Watsi’s vision by Chase and Oscar while studying EECS at UC Berkeley. Prior to Watsi, Byron did natural language processing research at Carnegie Mellon, worked on sustainable design in Panama, published a paper in orthopedics research at UCSF, and created technologies for nonprofits like Project Homeless Connect as part of an awesome group called Cal Blueprint. Byron believes in technology’s potential to transform the health and social sectors in the upcoming decade. In his own time, he enjoys freestyle jump roping, taking ridiculous photos, and trying to learn how to play the erhu.
